The Experience

ULTIMATE FRASER CANYON

The Fraser Canyon, from Hope to Lillooet BC is arguably one of the finest and most beautiful areas to fish and visit. If you are looking for History, Culture, Tradition and more importantly, an adventure experience of a lifetime, this is the place to stay and play. Yale, and the surrounding areas, are considered the birthplace of British Columbia where at the turn of the century (1900) there were nearly 100,000 people living here.

The Fraser Canyon is the best opportunity for an angler to hook into truly large trophy sturgeon. With that being said – there is fish in this area of all different size ranges. Many of the big fish often grow to over 9 feet (3 meters) and weigh up to 900 lbs (400 kg). Approximately 70% of the many 10′ plus (3.20 meters) fish that we have caught, landed and released over the last 30 years have been in the canyon!! These impressive fish are what dreams are made of… once you have one of these behemoth’s break water next to the boat and then scream hundreds of yards of line you will be hooked.

Our guides have MORE EXPERIENCE travelling this grand stretch of river than anyone, period. Not only do we fish here, we live here in this Canyon. In fact often we will not see another boat for day’s, this is a very exclusive opportunity to enjoy a very unique remote fishing experience The Fraser Canyon’s terrain is like nothing you’ve ever seen. Unlike the mid and lower portions of the river, where the waters are slower, wider and often controlled by man-made dykes. The canyon is an untamed technical piece of the river where the mountains seem to rise straight out of the river, towering above in great peaks and crevices. The waters, being hemmed in by these colossal mountains of granite, are turbid and faster, this requires the best jet boats with plenty of horse power and seasoned veteran guides to access the best areas to make your day a success.

This is your chance to fish for the world’s largest freshwater sport-fish, in the most ultra scenic area, with the most outstanding guides available. Come and soak up what the Fraser Canyon has to offer, drop us a line, you’ll be glad you did.

MID FRASER RIVER

The Fraser River offers the best Sturgeon fishing in the world!! Nowhere else can you find the numbers and sizes that are lurking in the murky depths of the mighty Fraser… nowhere. The most prolific stretch of this river is from Vancouver to Hope and this is where most of the angling happens for these terrors of the deep. Downstream of Hope BC the Fraser River widens and slows as it enters the Fraser Valley, BC largest valley. Here the river drops much of it’s silt and makes extensive sand bars that sturgeon need to feed and spawn and this is where we target these modern day dinosaurs when fishing the Mid Fraser.

Chilliwack BC is right dab smack in the middle of the Fraser Valley and an ideal location to venture out on the Fraser in search of the mighty White Sturgeon. With the river serpentining it’s way towards Vancouver it offers many eddies and side currents which offer up protection from the current and sand bars to feed on for the sturgeon all year no matter what the water levels are doing. This stretch of river is very scenic with rolling mountains and it’s shoreline is primarily large gravel bars where one can often see wildlife such as black bears, black tail deer and bald eagles. This is Sturgeon mecca and our fleet of veteran guides know these waters like the back of their hands.

Continuing downstream from Chilliwack the Fraser continues widen and just above Mission BC the river stops producing gravel bars and becomes more industrialized with dykes and sand bars primarily along it’s banks. The entire river bottom is now sand and sturgeon can feed just about everywhere, it takes a seasoned guide to know where the sturgeon haunts are and what they are feeding on. This stretch of river is greatly affected by the Pacific Ocean tides and will rise and fall with the ebbing tides often slowing and even running upstream in seams along the river. During high water this area is too fast and deep too fish comfortably and we primarily fish here during low water in the late fall, winter and early spring.

Come try your hand at massive fish exploding on the water’s surface and epic battles that measure in hours, not minutes. Stories of fish so powerful, anglers must continuously rotate on the rod and stories of fish so large, that they couldn’t be moved off the bottom. This is the Fraser River and this is your chance of a lifetime!

HARRISON RIVER

We are blessed to have one of the single largest salmon producing rivers in the world as our playground. The Harrison River is the largest tributary of the Fraser River System emptying an impressive 16000 cubic feet of crystal clear water per second. All five species of salmon can be present at the same time, this offers the angler a very unique chance to acquire the Grand Slam, all species to hand on the same day!!  By the numbers, the Harrison is the largest spawning tributary of the Fraser seeing millions of salmon every year spawning in it’s gravel.  It’s gentle grade lends itself very well to fly fishing offering miles of classic runs. Having said that, spinning and drift fishing are absolutely deadly ways to test the water as well. This is truly an epic place; big water, big fish and good times.

The Harrison is a big system and the trick is knowing the waters that lend themselves to the fishing method of choice. Of course the right fly or lure presented in the proper manner is also key but that’s where we come in. Our guides are all seasoned Harrison veterans that specialize in all different styles and tactics, let us know if you have a preference and we’ll ensure you get the right guide, the right tackle and the right boat to maximize your salmon fishing experience.
